Skoda Superb Sets a World Record: Over 2.800 km on a Single Fill!

The Czech manufacturer's flagship model, the Skoda Superb, has achieved an extraordinary feat, setting a new Guinness World Record for "Greatest distance driven on a single tank of fuel".
The mid-size sedan, renowned for its space and comfort, has demonstrated simply astonishing fuel efficiency, far exceeding expectations and its official specifications.
2.831 Kilometers with a 66-Liter Tank
The record was set between March 5-7, 2025 by Miko Marczyk, 2025 European Rally Champion (ERC). At the wheel of a Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI (fourth generation), he managed to travel no less than 2,831 kilometers without refueling.
The car used was a production model in Essence specification (base level) with the 2.0-litre, 110 kW (148 PS) diesel engine, equipped with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. The only notable changes were the use of low-rolling resistance tyres and suspension springs from the Sportline version, designed to optimise aerodynamics.
Fuel consumption of 2.61 l/100 km
This fantastic performance was made possible by incredibly low average fuel consumption. Over the entire journey, the Skoda Superb recorded an average fuel consumption of just 2.61 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres.
This figure is well below the car's official combined fuel consumption (WLTP) of 4.8 l/100 km, underlining the fuel economy potential of modern diesel engines when driven in hypermiling conditions (an ultra-economical driving technique). Starting from a standard 66-litre tank, the Superb achieved a theoretical range of over 42.8 km per litre of fuel.
European Performance Route
The record-setting journey was a complex and well-planned one, crossing a large part of Europe.
- Starting point: ?ód?, Poland.
- Route: Poland, Germany, Paris (France), the Netherlands, Belgium and back to Poland.
To maximise efficiency, Miko Marczyk adopted an extremely smooth and anticipatory driving style, maintaining a constant speed of around 80 km/h and using the "Eco" driving mode.
A Demonstration of Efficiency
This world record not only brings additional prestige to the Škoda Superb, but also serves as an outstanding demonstration of the efficiency that large-class cars equipped with diesel engines can achieve. Miko Marczyk, who used his personal car for the test, said his goal was to show that a significant reduction in CO2 emissions and fuel consumption is possible for any driver, through careful planning and an economical driving style.
