Ford Super Mustang Mach-E wins Pikes Peak race. Romain Dumas takes sixth overall win

Crushing victory at Pikes Peak: How Ford crushed the competition with a prototype with 3 electric motors

Ford has claimed a historic victory in the famous Pikes Peak Hill Climb. The all-electric Ford Super Mustang Mach-E prototype, a technological beast that develops no less than 1,400 horsepower, crossed the finish line first at the end of a particularly demanding route. At the wheel of the electric monster was experienced French driver Romain Dumas, who took his sixth overall victory in this legendary competition.

The ultimate challenge: 20 kilometers among the clouds

Founded in 1916, the Pikes Peak race has so far gathered 116 stages, being recognized worldwide as one of the most dangerous, but also most fascinating car competitions. The route measures 20 kilometers, but the real challenge is the extreme altitude at which it is held.

The start is at 2,862 meters, and the finish line is at a dizzying altitude of 4,300 meters. At this altitude, the rarefied air drastically reduces the power of conventional thermal engines and physically exhausts the pilots. In this context, electric propulsion becomes the perfect weapon, not affected by the lack of oxygen.

Ford's revenge: Three electric motors and 1,400 hp

Last year, the American manufacturer came very close to ultimate success, winning the class, but narrowly missing out on first place overall, finishing in second place. This year, Ford is back in full force, determined to leave no room for interpretation.

Engineers have thrown the radical Super Mustang Mach-E prototype into the fray. The vehicle's technical specifications are simply impressive:

  • Propulsion: 3 high-performance electric motors
  • Total power: 1,400 horsepower
  • Objective: Deliver instant torque to aggressively tackle the mountain's 150+ turns.

Romain Dumas, six-time "King of the Mountain"

To harness such a powerhouse, Ford relied on the book of absolute experience. Frenchman Romain Dumas, a veteran of endurance and speed racing, once again demonstrated remarkable self-control.

Dumas stopped the clock at 8 minutes and 18.202 seconds, a time that secured him a clear victory, leaving the second place holder a huge gap of over 11 seconds. With this success, the French driver ticks off his sixth overall victory on Pikes Peak.

A top performance, but the record remains intact

While the Ford Super Mustang Mach-E’s result is spectacular, this year’s time is 21 seconds slower than the absolute course record (in the Unlimited class). This historic record of 7 minutes and 57.148 seconds still stands and was also set a few years ago by Romain Dumas at the wheel of the Volkswagen ID.R electric prototype.

With this victory, Ford not only takes home a prestigious trophy, but also offers a demonstration of technological strength, reconfirming that the future of motorsport performance bears the mark of electric propulsion.
