Porsche is marking a new chapter in its international history with the launch of a spectacular one-off: the 911 Turbo S “Land Down Under.” Created to celebrate 75 years since the German brand’s first model arrived on the Australian continent in 1951, this supercar combines cutting-edge engineering from Zuffenhausen with the symbolism and fascinating geography of Australia.
Developed by the exclusive Sonderwunsch customization division, the project bears the artistic imprint of creator Werner Bronkhorst, transforming the German coupe into a visual homage to the natural landscapes of the Antipodes.
Craftsmanship: Over 300 hours for paint alone
The Land Down Under's main attraction is its two-tone bodywork, which took over 300 hours to paint. The chosen shades reflect the stark contrast between the Australian desert and the continent's clear skies:
- Bottom: Painted in the special Terre Australis red shade, inspired by the arid soil of the outback.
- Upper: Finished in Southern Cross blue, a color that changes depth and tone depending on the angle from which the light falls.
- Wheels: Measuring 20 inches on the front axle and 21 inches on the rear, they take on the Southern Cross blue hue for impeccable chromatic continuity.
The exterior design also hides subtle details dedicated to connoisseurs. The number 75 is discreetly integrated on the roof, and a secret message is hidden under the rear spoiler. The latter becomes visible only at speeds above 80 km/h or when the Sport Plus driving mode is activated, when the movable spoiler rises.
An interior packed with geographical and astronomical references
The interior is an impeccable exercise in attention to detail, combining fine leather in Dark Knight (blue) and Coolibah (brown) tones.
The adaptive sports seats are the centrepiece of the interior: their central area features a complex pattern made of 14,417 individual perforations, creating a visual contrast between the shades of Kalahari and Coolibah brown. The headrests are embroidered with the outline of the map of Australia and the jubilee number 75.
The decorative elements add to the exclusivity:
- Wood inserts: Native Australian oak wood was used for the ornaments.
- Topographic details: The upper part of the dashboard bears fine engravings depicting the topographic contour lines of the famous Blue Mountains.
- Steering Wheel: Dressed in blue, brown leather and Neodyme details, it features a 12 o'clock marking painted in the Kalahari shade.
- Headlining: The interior's ring of resistance is a faithful representation of the constellations exactly as they appeared in the night sky above the Uluru monolith when Porsche officially landed in Australia 75 years ago.
Top performance: 711 HP and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds
Under the artistically sculpted bodywork, the technical package remains true to the brutal performance of the 911 Turbo S range. The supercar retains the latest-generation hybrid configuration, powered by the 3.6-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine.
