Dacia Sandero and Duster climb to the top two positions in Renault Groups global sales, dethroning the Clio model

Historic change in the Renault Group, Dacia models dominate the global quarterly sales ranking

The international automotive market is witnessing a symbolic shift of proportions within one of Europe's most important industrial giants. For the first time in recent history, the hegemony exercised by an emblematic model of the French brand has been interrupted, and the group's popularity poles have reconfigured in favor of the Mioveni brand, marking a remarkable performance for the affordable and robust range developed under the group's umbrella.

A historic first: Dacia takes the lead in the world ranking

For decades, the ranking of the best-selling vehicles worldwide in the Renault Group portfolio has been authoritatively dominated by a single name: Renault Clio. The small hatchback has represented the French commercial standard in countless markets.

However, recent industrial dynamics and generational transitions have led to a radical change in the hierarchy. With the transition phase and gradual withdrawal of the old Clio generation, the global sales structure has changed, paving the way for an absolute first for the Dacia Sandero and Duster models, which managed to climb to the top two steps of the global podium.

Third trimester X-ray: The figures that confirm international success

The analysis of commercial data for the third quarter of the year clearly illustrates the dominance of the group's new leaders on international markets.

  • The absolute leader – Dacia Sandero: The small European hatchback has firmly established itself as the number one globally, selling 58,827 units between July and September.
  • Second position – Dacia Duster: The brand's successful SUV, marketed both under the Dacia logo and under the Renault brand in certain foreign markets, recorded an impressive volume of 56,189 units sold worldwide.
  • Evolution of other models: As a result of this evolution, Renault Clio temporarily dropped to third place in the quarterly global hierarchy, with 44,511 units sold. The group's top was completed by other strategic models, such as Renault Kwid (28,137 units), Renault Captur (24,574 units), the new electric Renault 5 E-Tech (23,666 units), but also by recent representatives of the Dacia family, such as the Bigster model (17,775 units), followed by Twingo E-Tech, Symbioz and Dacia Jogger (13,394 units).

The long-term perspective and the battle for the annual peak

Although the results of the last quarter reflect an undeniable dominance of the Sandero and Duster models, the race for the annual crown remains extremely close when we look at the overall picture of the first nine months of the year.

  • The fight for the top between January and September: For the entire year reported to date, Renault Clio still maintains its first position in the Renault Group's overall cumulative ranking, with a total of 193,010 units sold globally.
  • The constant pressure of Dacia models: At a minimal distance, located just a "head's length", is Dacia Sandero, with 191,570 units sold, while the global podium is completed by Dacia Duster, which has accumulated 176,949 units delivered to customers around the world.

This dynamic underlines not only the commercial maturity of the Dacia range, but also its ability to respond precisely to the demands of global consumers who seek efficiency, pragmatism and excellent value for money, transforming the models produced under the Romanian logo into the main pillars of profitability and volume of the entire French group.
