Jaguar Land Rover recalls nearly 94.000 Range Rover vehicles due to a problem with the reversing camera

Land Rover Range Rover 2022–2026 service recall, problems with the reversing camera and what drivers in Romania need to know

Road safety and the reliability of electronic components are absolute priorities for luxury car manufacturers. A new technical campaign targets an essential aspect for urban and safe maneuvers: the rear visibility system. The British manufacturer has initiated a wide-ranging service recall procedure for almost 94,000 vehicles, targeting possible water infiltrations that could compromise the functioning of the reversing camera.

Technical details of the campaign: Targeted models and nature of the defect

The service campaign targets an extensive batch of vehicles produced over several years of manufacture, with potential constructive vulnerabilities identified in the rear assembly area.

  • Affected models: The procedure covers certain Land Rover Range Rovers produced between 2022 and 2026.
  • Origin of the problem: According to technical investigations, an insufficient number of drainage holes in the dedicated area can favor the accumulation of water inside the reversing camera housing.
  • Effect in use: Excessive humidity and stagnant water can cause premature damage to the camera's electronic components, directly resulting in the loss of the video signal and the inability to display the rear image on the central screen of the multimedia system when reverse gear is engaged.

Technical solution: Intervention by authorized dealers

To definitively remedy this deficiency and prevent any risk associated with loss of visibility when reversing, the manufacturer has established a standardized intervention protocol for the global service network.

  • Physical modification of the trim: Technicians at authorized service centers will perform an intervention on the lower part of the tailgate trim, creating additional drainage holes to ensure efficient water drainage and prevent moisture blockage.
  • Component Replacement: During the same service visit, the reversing camera will be thoroughly checked. If the inspection reveals signs of water ingress or malfunction, it will be completely replaced at the manufacturer's expense.

What is the situation for drivers in Romania?

Although the campaign was officially initiated in the North American market, such a manufacturing issue also has direct relevance for customers in Europe, including Range Rover model owners in Romania.

  • Similar components and batches: Vehicles sold on the European market share the same manufacturing standards and subassembly architecture as those in the United States, meaning that vehicles produced during the same period (2022–2026) may be at risk of similar leaks.
  • Verification procedure for Romanian customers: Owners of Land Rover Range Rover models manufactured since 2022 are advised to monitor for possible anomalies in the reversing display system.
  • How to proceed locally: Typically, in the case of global recall campaigns, the official service network in Romania automatically takes over the notification procedures. Owners can check if their vehicle is subject to an active remediation campaign by entering the chassis number (VIN) in the dedicated verification sections of the authorized partner network or by contacting the nearest official Land Rover dealer directly for a preventive appointment.
