VW ID. Polo officially arrived in Romania: Top performances at debut and a promise below the 25.000 euro threshold

The electric revolution in the small class: The new Volkswagen ID. Polo has arrived in Romania

After years of anticipation and spectacular concepts, the newest stage of electric mobility from Wolfsburg lands on our roads. Volkswagen ID. Polo, the spiritual and electric successor to the legendary small class model, is now officially available to order on the Romanian market.

Although the German manufacturer's strategy is based on the democratization of the electric segment, the local debut is marked by a "top-down" approach. To begin with, Romanian customers can opt exclusively for the top variant, equipped with the 211 horsepower engine, promising dynamic performance that exceeds the usual standards of the urban class.

Performance and Autonomy: No urban compromises

The new ID. Polo uses the MEB Entry architecture, being the first model in the ID family to adopt front-wheel drive. The launch variant currently available in Romania offers a solid technical package:

  • Engine: 211 hp (155 kW)
  • Battery: 52 kWh (net)
  • Range: Up to 453 km in the WLTP cycle
  • Charging: Fast charging capability (DC) that allows reaching 80% in approximately 24 minutes.

The exterior design retains the clean, modern lines of the ID.2all concept, while the interior marks a significant return to classic ergonomics, bringing back physical buttons for climate control and audio volume – a direct response to customer feedback.

Available versions and equipment

At this moment, the manufacturer's offer is structured on two distinct equipment lines, both of which are coupled to the large 52 kWh battery.

1. Life Equipment (From €35,239)

This version is aimed at those looking for a balance between technology and utility. Among the standard features included are:

  • Wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
  • Park Pilot: assisted parking system.
  • Reversing camera.
  • Assistant for automatic activation of the high beam (Light Assist).

2. Style equipment (From €38,591)

For added refinement and comfort, the Style variant adds premium features, taken from the higher segments:

  • IQ.Light adaptive Matrix LED headlights: for optimal visibility without dazzling other road users.
  • Keyless Access: keyless access and starting.
  • Extensive ambient lighting (30 colors).
  • Heated steering wheel, ideal for cold winter mornings.

What's next: Versions under 25,000 euros

While current prices place the ID. Polo in a higher price range, Volkswagen promises that this is just the beginning. The range will later be expanded with more affordable launch versions called Trend 1st and Life 1st.

The big news expected towards the end of the year is the introduction of the 37 kWh battery and the 116 HP and 135 HP engines. This configuration will allow the manufacturer to honor its initial promise: a starting price of under 25,000 euros, making the transition to electric much more accessible to the general public.

For those passionate about extreme performance, today the future ID. Polo GTI version was also confirmed, which will develop 226 HP, but it will only reach showrooms towards the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027.
