Top sales in Europe: Dacia Sandero in first place after 11 months

Dacia Sandero, "Queen of Europe" in 2025: Undisputed leader in sales, despite a market in full transformation
With only a few pages left to write in the 2025 automotive calendar, one thing is certain: the Dacia Sandero retains its crown as the best-selling model on the continent. Although the industry is going through a complex transition to electrification and faces fierce competition from newcomers from China, the model produced in Mioveni and Morocco remains the number one option for Europeans.
11 months of dominance: 226,000 new customers
According to the latest data provided by Data Force, Dacia Sandero was delivered in 225,862 units between January and November 2025. This figure confirms the status of absolute "bestseller", giving the model a considerable lead over the next ranked model.
Interestingly, despite holding the top spot, Sandero recorded a 8.7% decline compared to the same period last year. Analysts attribute this decline to customer expectations for the new engine versions and the recently announced facelift, as well as increased pressure in the B segment, where rivals have launched aggressive discount campaigns.
The podium duel: Renault Clio and VW T-Roc
In second place is its platform cousin, the Renault Clio, with 206,583 units. The Clio achieved a remarkable performance in November, narrowly surpassing Sandero in monthly sales, but not enough to threaten its leadership position for the entire year.
The podium is completed by the Volkswagen T-Roc (196,123 units), which confirms Europeans' constant appetite for small SUVs.
Top 10: A battle between tradition and new trends
The European hierarchy shows a clear dominance of the Volkswagen Group and a solid presence of compact models and urban SUVs:
| Rank | Model | Units Sold (11 Months 2025) |
| 1 | Dacia Sandero | 225,862 |
| 2 | Renault Clio | 206,583 |
| 3 | Volkswagen T-Roc | 196,123 |
| 4 | Volkswagen Tiguan | 180,562 |
| 5 | Volkswagen Golf | 179,890 |
| 6 | Toyota Yaris Cross | 174,379 |
| 7 | Peugeot 208 | 173,370 |
| 8 | Peugeot 2008 | 160,061 |
| 9 | Dacia Duster | 156,845 |
| 10 | Opel Corsa | 154,608 |
Dacia Duster manages to remain in the "Top 10", in ninth position, a notable performance considering the launch of its bigger brother, Bigster, which has already begun to attract some of the brand's SUV customers.
Why does Sandero remain the favorite of Europeans?
The success of the Dacia model is no longer a surprise based solely on price. In a European economy marked by inflation, Sandero has managed to offer:
- Unbeatable price-performance ratio: Even with global price increases, it remains one of the most affordable new cars.
- ECO-G (LPG) engines: An extremely popular alternative to diesel and expensive electric cars, offering low running costs.
- Modern design: The Stepway version, in particular, has managed to attract a younger audience looking for crossover looks without high maintenance costs.
Conclusions: A historic year for Mioveni
With just a few weeks to go before the final tally, Dacia Sandero has every chance of ending 2025 in first place, consolidating last year's success. It's a victory not only for sales figures, but also for the brand's strategy of offering the "essentials" in an increasingly sophisticated and expensive market.
