Revolution in the small class: The new Renault Clio Eco-G 120 EDC combines LPG with an automatic gearbox. Here are the prices for Romania!
The Romanian car market receives excellent news for fans of economical driving, but who do not want to give up comfort. Renault has officially launched on the local market a new, extremely attractive version of its popular hatchback, Clio.
This is the Eco-G 120 EDC version, a configuration highly requested by the public, which brings for the first time gas (LPG) fueling along with a modern automatic transmission. The new model has a starting price of 20,400 euros (VAT included).
Performance and automatic transmission: The perfect recipe for the city
The new engine comes to solve a great desire of customers in Romania: to have a car on LPG, but without the "hassle" of manually shifting gears in stop-and-go traffic.
Under the hood we find a 1.2-liter turbo engine, capable of dual operation (petrol and LPG). Unlike the well-known 100 HP Eco-G versions, the new engine significantly increases dynamics:
- Maximum power: 120 horsepower
- Maximum torque: 200 Nm
- Transmission: 6-speed EDC automatic gearbox (dual clutch)
This combination promises much more lively rides on long roads and remarkable fluidity in urban environments.
Extended autonomy and enviable consumption
The Renault Clio Eco-G 120 EDC excels in terms of total autonomy, thanks to the intelligent integration of two distinct tanks. This time, the tank dedicated to liquefied petroleum gas is considerably larger than the petrol tank:
- LPG tank: 50 liters
- Gasoline tank: 39 liters
From an efficiency point of view, the official average consumption figures are extremely optimistic for drivers' budgets:
- 5.4 liters / 100 km when running on gasoline.
- 6.5 liters / 100 km when using LPG mode.
Our advice: Given the massive price difference between LPG and classic gasoline at gas stations in Romania, this Clio version promises to be, from the start, one of the most cost-effective cars for commuters and commercial fleets.
Three trim levels and competitive prices
The French manufacturer did not limit the new engine only to the basic, "commercial" variants, but offers it in three well-known equipment levels: Evolution, Techno and the sporty Esprit Alpine variant.
The complete price list for the Romanian market is as follows:
| Trim Level | Engine | Power / Torque | Price (€ VAT included) |
| Evolution | Eco-G 120 EDC | 120 hp / 200 Nm | 20,400 |
| Techno | Eco-G 120 EDC | 120 hp / 200 Nm | 22,100 |
| Esprit Alpine | Eco-G 120 EDC | 120 hp / 200 Nm | 23,850 |
With an entry threshold of just over 20,000 euros, the new Renault Clio Eco-G 120 EDC offers an extremely competitive alternative in a market where affordable and economical cars equipped with automatic transmission have become a rarity. Orders are open starting today in the Renault dealer network across the country.
