In a context where price remains the main barrier to the adoption of electric cars, MG Motor seems to have found the "magic recipe" for the local market. Recently launched during the MG Tech Day event, the new MG4 Urban makes its official entry into Romania, promising to democratize zero-emission mobility through a solid technical package and a starting price that puts huge pressure on European competition.
A compact hatchback built on a solid foundation
The new MG4 Urban is not just another city car, but a full-fledged compact hatchback, developed on the modern SAIC E3 architecture. With a length of 4,395 mm and a generous wheelbase of 2,750 mm, the model promises increased stability and a surprising interior space for its segment.
Cell to Body technology, which integrates the battery directly into the chassis structure, not only optimizes space, but also contributes to a lowered center of gravity, improving the vehicle's dynamics on the road.
Digitalized and utility-oriented interior
Inside, the MG4 Urban relies on a mix of digital minimalism and classic ergonomics. The cabin is dominated by two screens:
- A 7-inch digital instrument panel.
- A 12.8-inch central infotainment screen with wireless support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Unlike many manufacturers that move all controls to the screen, MG has retained physical buttons for climate control and media, a detail that will certainly be appreciated by drivers who prefer safety in use. In addition, the practical side is supported by the 30 storage spaces and a total load volume that can reach 1,364 liters.

Under the hood (or, more accurately, on the front axle), the MG4 Urban delivers 160 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Although it is an efficiency-oriented model, the 0-100 km/h sprint in 9.5 seconds is more than enough for modern traffic.

- 43 kWh: Combined range of 325 km.
- 54 kWh: Mixed range of 416 km, which can be extended to a spectacular 600 km in the pure urban cycle.
A major competitive advantage is the presence of the heat pump as standard equipment on all versions, essential equipment for preserving autonomy during the Romanian winters. Regarding charging, the 10-80% charge is achieved in just 28 minutes at a fast station (87 kW).
5-star safety and competitive prices
The MG4 Urban doesn't skimp on safety either, achieving the maximum 5-star Euro NCAP rating. The safety package includes no fewer than 17 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
