The new electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé 2027 can be ordered in Romania
Mercedes-AMG officially opens a new chapter on the Romanian car market. Officially presented in the spring of this year as a direct and extremely aggressive response to the Porsche Taycan, the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé (2027) can now be ordered by customers in the country. It is the first electric performance model developed by the Affalterbach division completely from scratch, on a dedicated platform called AMG.EA, and prices start at 156,399 euros including VAT.
Revolutionary Architecture: Axial Engines and Formula 1 Technology
Beyond the flowing lines of a sports coupé that you can see in the image above, the real revolution is hidden under the body. The Germans have abandoned conventional radial electric motors in favor of a pioneering technology: axial flow motors (developed together with specialists from YASA).
The tri-motor configuration features one motor on the front axle and two on the rear axle. These motors are three times more power-dense and considerably more compact than standard ones, enabling stunning and repeatable torque delivery without performance loss due to overheating.
Battery innovation: The system uses an 800-volt architecture and a 106 kWh battery with cylindrical cells directly submerged in a non-conductive cooling oil. This Formula 1-derived solution enables a record charging capacity of over 600 kW, allowing the car to accumulate a WLTP range of 460 km in just 10 minutes.
Two raw power versions for the Romanian market
The new electric monster from Stuttgart is available in AMG Line equipment and comes in two extremely competitive engine variants:
1. AMG GT 55 4-Door Coupe
It is the entry-level version, but its figures are far from "entry-level". It develops 816 HP and a huge torque of 1800 Nm. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in just 2.8 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 260 km/h. Thanks to efficient management, the battery ensures the longest autonomy in the range: 689 kilometers (WLTP).
2. AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupe
The flagship of the range raises the stakes to an astronomical level: 1169 HP and a stratospheric torque of 2000 Nm. These resources catapult the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.4 seconds, the maximum speed remaining set at 260 km/h. The autonomy decreases imperceptibly, promising up to 684 kilometers in WLTP mode.
| Model / Version | Output (hp) | Torque (Nm) | List Price (€ incl. VAT) |
| AMG GT 55 4-Door Coupé | 816 hp | 1,800 Nm | €156,399 |
| AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé | 1,169 hp | 2,000 Nm | €194,509 |
How does it position itself against its rivals?
Mercedes-AMG has not only created a fast car in a straight line, but a rival capable of stealing Porsche customers. To ensure traditional dynamic behavior, the engineers included the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL air suspension with active hydraulic roll stabilization and all-wheel steering (rear axle steering up to 6 degrees).
For purists who miss the era of combustion engines, the AMGFORCE Sport+ system uses over 1,600 audio files mixed in real time to generate a soundscape inspired by the legendary AMG V8, accompanied by haptic vibrations in the seats and simulated torque interruptions to mimic gear changes.
Looking at the raw figures and list prices, the differences to the direct competition in Stuttgart are obvious:
| Model / Version | Output (hp) | Range (km) | Combined Consumption (kWh/100 km) | 0-100 km/h Acceleration (sec) | List Price* (€ incl. VAT) |
| Mercedes-AMG GT 55 | 816 | 689 | 18.1 | 2.8 | €156,399 |
| Porsche Taycan (Base) | 408 | 592 | 16.1 | 4.8 | €112,250 |
While the base version of the Taycan offers a more affordable starting price, AMG places the new GT 4-Door directly into the league of electric hyper-performance already in its standard equipment, offering double the power and considerably more autonomy for long journeys on the Romanian highways. Order books are officially open at authorized dealers in the country.
