Cupra Raval debuts on the Romanian market: Complete technical specifications and prices of the two electric versions
The Romanian electric vehicle market is welcoming a new dynamic and highly competitive player. Cupra has officially opened the order lists for the Raval, the most affordable zero-emission model in the portfolio of the Martorell-based performance brand. Unveiled at the beginning of April, the new electric hot-hatch shares the technical platform with the future Volkswagen ID.Polo, promising to combine the brand's specific sporting spirit with the pragmatism necessary in the urban environment. On the local market, the model debuts with a starting price of 35,252 euros including VAT and promises extremely attractive autonomy figures.
Two power and front-wheel drive versions
To begin with, customers in Romania have two distinct variations available, both configured with a single electric motor located on the front axle. The entry-level version, called Raval Endurance, develops a remarkable power of 211 horsepower. It is equipped with a 52 kWh battery, an optimized configuration that allows it to reach a maximum autonomy of up to 445 kilometers in WLTP mode, while the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 7.1 seconds.
For those looking for a bit more sportiness, the top-of-the-range Raval VZ packs no less than 226 horsepower under the hood. Although it uses the same 52 kWh battery, the clear focus on performance reduces the estimated range to 386 kilometers. On the other hand, the dynamics are clearly superior: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is exhausted in just 6.8 seconds, and the top speed stops at 175 km/h.
Both versions benefit from a direct current (DC) fast charging system with powers of up to 105 kW, ideal for quick charging sessions on the go. Representatives of the brand have confirmed that, later, the new Raval range will be completed by two other more accessible versions, 115 HP and 135 HP, which will be equipped with a smaller battery, 37 kWh, implicitly lowering the price threshold.
Generous standard features and uncompromising safety
Despite its positioning as the brand's most affordable electric model, Cupra has not skimped on the standard equipment. The basic Endurance version offers an extremely attractive visual and technological package. The exterior features 18-inch wheels and Full LED headlights, while the interior is dominated by heated front sports seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Digital comfort is ensured by a massive central screen for the multimedia system, with a diagonal of 12.9 inches, accompanied by a single-zone automatic climate control system and ambient lighting. Dynamic control is also supported by the presence of disc brakes on both axles.
When it comes to safety, the standard driver assistance package is extremely comprehensive. The technologies included from the factory constantly monitor traffic and driver behavior through systems such as:
- Adaptive cruise control (ACC)
- Front Assist with automatic braking and Front Cross Traffic
- Exit Warning and Light Assist
- Traffic sign recognition system
- Fatigue detector and E-Call emergency system
Competitive context: Where does Cupra Raval position itself?
The new Cupra Raval is launched in Romania with a list price of 35,252 euros (VAT included) for the Endurance version. The more powerful alternative, the Raval VZ, raises the financial stakes to 37,038 euros (VAT included).
To better understand where the new Spanish hatchback ranks in relation to its direct competition in the compact electric segment, here is a comparative analysis of the main rivals:
| Model / Version | Power (HP) | Range (km, WLTP) | 0-100 km/h Acceleration (seconds) | List Price* (Euro, incl. VAT) |
| Cupra Raval Endurance (52 kWh) | 211 | 445 | 7.1 | 35,252 |
| Renault 5 E-Tech Iconiq Cinq (52 kWh) | 150 | 408 | — | 33,450 |
| Mini Cooper SE (49.2 kWh) | 218 | 400 | 6.7 | 31,500 |
Prices represent official list values, excluding any seasonal offers, network promotions, or subsidies offered through government programs.
Through this strategic move, Cupra manages to offer an extremely aggressive power/autonomy ratio on the Romanian market, relying heavily on emotional design and top dynamic performance for the purely electric urban segment.
