The new BMW iX3 2027 has a new basic version in Romania: How much does the model with a range of 637 km cost

The new electric era "Neue Klasse" becomes more accessible: BMW iX3 40 can be ordered in Romania from 60,863 euros

The Bavarians are stepping on the accelerator in the premium electric segment. After the debut of the new generation of electric SUVs based on the revolutionary Neue Klasse architecture, BMW is expanding its range with a new, highly competitive entry-level version. Officially named the BMW iX3 40, the new model forgoes all-wheel drive in favor of efficiency and a much more attractive starting price.

Customers in Romania can already configure and order the new model, with prices starting at 60,863 euros including VAT.

Dynamic performance: Rear-wheel drive and 320 horsepower

Unlike its bigger brother the iX3 50 xDrive, the new iX3 40 version focuses on constructive simplicity and energy efficiency. The rear axle houses a single sixth-generation (Gen6) synchronous electric motor (EESM), capable of delivering pure BMW performance:

  • Maximum power: 235 kW / 320 hp
  • Engine torque: 500 Nm
  • Acceleration 0-100 km/h: 5.9 seconds
  • Maximum speed: 200 km/h

Thanks to the removal of the engine from the front axle, the iX3 40 benefits from a reduced overall mass, which promises agile dynamic behavior and that classic, rear-axle-oriented road manners typical of the Munich brand.

Top autonomy and 800-volt architecture

One of the great advantages of the Neue Klasse platform is the introduction of cylindrical battery cells integrated directly into the chassis structure (cell-to-pack), offering a 20% higher energy density.

The BMW iX3 40 comes equipped with a battery with a useful capacity of 82.6 kWh, capable of providing an official range of up to 637 kilometers in the WLTP cycle.

Record-breaking charging: Thanks to its advanced 800V electrical architecture, the iX3 40 supports DC charging powers of up to 300 kW. This means that charging from 10% to 80% takes just 21 minutes, and a quick 10-minute stop at an ultra-fast charging station can add up to 300 km of range. In addition, the car offers native support for bi-directional charging, ready to power your home network if needed.

Generous standard technology and equipment for Romania

Although we are talking about the entry-level version, BMW has not compromised on the standard equipment or on-board technology. The cabin adopts the revolutionary new digital concept powered by the BMW Operating System X.

The standard package included in the base price offers:

  • Exterior design: 20-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels.
  • Interior and comfort: Premium fabric upholstery, heated front seats and wireless smartphone charging area.
  • Digital innovation: BMW Panoramic Vision (the advanced information projection system across the entire width of the windshield) together with the intelligent personal assistant based on generative artificial intelligence (LLM).
  • Safety and assistance: Driving Assistant Plus driving assistance system.
  • Mobility: Charging cable (Mode 3) dedicated to public AC charging stations (where the car draws up to 11 kW as standard, 22 kW as an option).

The new BMW iX3 40 promises to be an extremely formidable player on the Romanian electric vehicle market, offering a solid balance between a competitive starting price, cutting-edge technology and real autonomy that completely eliminates the stress of long journeys. Online configurators are already active, with first deliveries scheduled in the coming months.
