Skoda Epiq enters the Romanian market: Three engines and prices under 26.500 euros for the new compact SUV

The new Skoda Epiq has arrived in Romania: The Czech brand's most affordable electric SUV has a starting price of under 26.500 euros

The Mladá Boleslav-based manufacturer opens order lists on the Romanian market for its new urban crossover based on the MEB+ architecture. Although the basic versions will arrive in the coming months, customers can already order the top variant, the Epiq 55.

Skoda continues its offensive on the electric vehicle market with an extremely strategic model for Eastern Europe and beyond. Just a few days after its official presentation, the new compact electric SUV Skoda Epiq can now be officially ordered in Romania. It becomes the most affordable zero-emission model in the Czech brand's portfolio, promising to democratize electric mobility through an extremely competitive price-quality ratio.

Produced at the Pamplona plant in Spain, alongside its platform siblings in the Volkswagen Group, the new Epiq measures 4.17 metres in length and adopts the brand’s new “Modern Solid” design language. The model is distinguished by its minimalist “Tech Deck Face” front grille, T-shaped headlights and optimised aerodynamics, managing to offer an aerodynamic coefficient (Cx) of just 0.27.

Three engine versions and two trim levels

For the Romanian market, Skoda has configured a range consisting of two equipment levels (Essence and Selection) and three engine versions: Epiq 35, Epiq 40 and Epiq 55.

At the time of writing, only the top versions (Epiq 55) are available for order on the local market, with the most affordable variants to be introduced in the configurator in the immediate future.

Here's how the versions and list prices are divided (with VAT included, without government bonuses or seasonal offers):

  • Epiq 35 (Essence) – 26,438 euros: The entry-level version gets a 115 horsepower (85 kW) engine and a 37 kWh battery (LFP type). The announced range is up to 310 kilometers in the WLTP cycle. As standard, customers receive generous features such as 17-inch wheels, a massive 13-inch central screen for the multimedia system, adaptive cruise control (Adaptive Cruise Control) and automatic climate control on one zone.
  • Epiq 40 (Essence) – 28,260 euros: Keeps the same 37 kWh battery and features, but engine power increases to 134 horsepower (99 kW).
  • Epiq 40 (Selection) – 31,498 euros: This higher equipment brings larger 18-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats and steering wheel, reversing camera and, an extremely useful element, bidirectional V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) charging technology, which allows other electrical devices to be powered directly from the car's battery.
  • Epiq 55 (Essence) – 33,320 euros: The top version currently available. It receives a powerful 211 horsepower (155 kW) engine and a larger 52 kWh battery (NMC type). The maximum autonomy rises to an excellent level for urban and peri-urban environments: 440 kilometers (WLTP).
  • Epiq 55 (Selection) – 36,558 euros: Combines the top-of-the-line 211 HP engine with the superior package of technological and comfort features.

Technology and the "Simply Clever" spirit inside

Unlike the larger models in the range (Enyaq or Elroq), which use rear-wheel drive, the Skoda Epiq uses the MEB+ architecture with the engine located on the front axle. One of the model's great strengths is the interior space. Despite the compact exterior dimensions, the Czech engineers managed to achieve a record-breaking luggage compartment for this segment, of 475 liters, clearly surpassing many of its direct competitors.

Inside, we find sustainable materials and modern finishes (such as recycled polyester textiles), a compact 5.2-inch digital dashboard and the brand's practical "Simply Clever" elements (integrated umbrella in the door, cooler in the tailgate and intelligent anchoring systems in the trunk). In terms of charging, the Epiq 55 version supports DC fast charging speeds of up to 125-133 kW, allowing a recharge from 10% to 80% in just 23 minutes.

How does the Skoda Epiq position itself against the competition?

The affordable electric SUV and crossover segment is becoming a real battlefield in 2026. The Skoda Epiq enters direct competition with newly launched or updated models, each relying on a different strategy of price, power or autonomy.

Here is a comparative analysis of the basic version of the Skoda Epiq compared to its main rivals:

Model / Version Power (hp) Battery (net kWh) Combined Consumption (kWh/100 km) Acceleration 0-100 km/h (seconds) List Price* (Euro, incl. VAT)
Skoda Epiq (Epiq 35) 115 37.0 13.0 11.0 26,438
Ford Puma Gen-E (Select) 168 46.8 13.0 8.0 24,500
Citroen e-C3 Aircross (You) 113 44.0 18.2 12.9 26,100
Renault 4 E-Tech (Urban Range) 120 40.0 14.7 9.2 29,550
Kia EV2 (Light) 146 42.2 15.1 8.7 26,960

Analyzing the numbers, it is noted that the Skoda Epiq offers one of the most efficient propulsion systems, with a declared mixed consumption of only 13 kWh/100 km, on par with the Ford Puma Gen-E and well below Citroen or Renault. Although the Puma Gen-E comes with an aggressive starting price and a larger battery, Skoda increases the interior organization, luggage space and assistance technologies (Travel Assist 3.0 and 360-degree monitoring available optionally).

With the launch of Epiq, Skoda demonstrates that the transition to electric mobility is no longer reserved exclusively for premium segments, offering a viable, modern and extremely spacious alternative for young families and intensive urban use.
