"Sporty" electric offensive: Leapmotor B05 makes its European debut at the Pozna? Motor Show
POZNA?, Poland – In a strategic move aimed at strengthening its partnership with the giant Stellantis, Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor has chosen the Pozna? Motor Show for the European launch of its new B05 model. This represents the brand's first foray into the electric sports car segment, promising a competitive mix of performance, cutting-edge technology and an affordable price for the continental market, including Romania.
Sculpted design and aerodynamic efficiency
The Leapmotor B05 is not just another electric hatchback; it is a model that adopts coupe proportions, measuring 4,430 mm in length and 1,880 mm in width. One of the design's strong points is the remarkable aerodynamic coefficient of 0.26 Cx. This performance has been achieved through advanced technical solutions, such as active flaps integrated into the front grille, optimized air intakes and side deflectors that reduce turbulence.
Aesthetically, the B05 stands out with narrow LED headlights and a continuous light strip at the rear, elements that give it a modern visual identity. The color palette is equally bold, including shades such as Lightning Yellow, Windy Grey, Metallic Black, Starry Night Blue and Galaxy Silver, all complemented by 19-inch wheels with a dynamic design.
Performance and sports DNA
Despite its compact size, the B05 is built to deliver an engaging driving experience. The single electric motor, located on the rear axle, develops 218 hp and 240 Nm of torque. Thanks to the perfect weight distribution (50:50), the car promises increased agility in corners. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 6.7 seconds, which places it at the top of its segment.
Customers can choose between two battery configurations:
- 56.2 kWh: range of 401 km (WLTP).
- 67.1 kWh: range up to 482 km (WLTP).
The fast charging system is one of the most efficient in the segment, supporting powers of up to 174 kW. Thus, a 30-80% charge takes only 17 minutes, eliminating “range anxiety” for long journeys.
Digitalized cabin and generous space
Inside, the Leapmotor B05 offers a minimalist yet ultra-technological concept. The centerpiece is the 14.6-inch multimedia screen running the Leap OS 4.0 Plus operating system, supported by an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.
Comfort has not been neglected: the front seats are heated, and the rear bench offers a 27-degree tilt for a relaxed posture. The model also impresses with its practical side, offering 25 storage compartments and a luggage compartment volume that, with the seats folded, reaches 1,400 liters.
5-star safety
Leapmotor designed the B05 with the clear goal of achieving maximum scores in Euro NCAP tests. The car is equipped with 7 airbags as standard (including a central one between the front passengers) and features an arsenal of 21 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), controlled by 14 sensors and cameras, offering Level 2 autonomous driving assistance.
Availability and price in Romania
In Romania, Leapmotor benefits from the vast distribution network of the Stellantis group, which ensures a solid presence in major cities.
- Commercial launch: The first B05 units are expected in showrooms in Romania at the end of the second quarter of 2026 (June-July).
- Equipment: Life (small or large battery) and Design (large battery only) versions will be available.
- Estimated price: Although official prices for Romania have not yet been finalized, market sources indicate a starting price of approximately 25,000 - 27,000 euros (without subsidies). With the Rabla Plus program, the price could become one of the most competitive on the market, positioning the B05 as a direct rival to the Volkswagen ID.3 and MG4.
With the B05, Leapmotor demonstrates that the era of "boring" electric cars is over, offering a characterful alternative that combines sporty spirit with the efficiency necessary for daily use.
