Mercedes-Benz VLE receives Advanced package, 421 hp, 654 km range and all-wheel drive

Mercedes-Benz VLE 400 4Matic - how much will the brand's most powerful electric MPV with a 155 kWh battery cost in Romania?

Mercedes-Benz is redefining the premium MPV segment with a series of major updates for its fully electric VLE model. Built on the new VAN.EA architecture with 800-volt technology, the German MPV receives a new top-of-the-range variant equipped with all-wheel drive, an extensive visual personalization package and a more flexible structure of standard and optional options.

VLE 400 4Matic: All-wheel drive and 421 hp

The most important new model in the range is the VLE 400 4Matic version, which takes on the role of flagship. The propulsion system integrates two electric motors — one on each axle — which together develop a total power of 310 kW (421 hp).

The powertrain delivers brisk acceleration and optimal traction on low-grip surfaces, solidifying the model's positioning as a luxury commuter or family sedan.

0–100 km/h in 6.5 seconds: A remarkable performance for a minivan that exceeds 5.3 meters in length and has a curb weight of almost 3 tons.

The towing capacity reaches up to 2,500 kg (brake trailer) and the towbar load supports up to 100 kg, making it ideal for dedicated e-bike racks. In addition, the ESP trailer stabilization system and Trailer Maneuvering Assist simplify maneuvering in tight spaces.

115 kWh battery and Ultra-Fast charging

The new VLE 400 4Matic retains the NMC battery pack with a useful capacity of 115 kWh. Thanks to optimized aerodynamics (Cd coefficient of just 0.25), the vehicle offers an official range of up to 654 km in the WLTP combined cycle.

The 800V architecture enables fast direct current (DC) charging with powers up to 300 kW, with 10% to 80% power in approximately 25 minutes. For short stops at high-power stations, a 15-minute charging session adds up to 355 km of range.

Technical Specification VLE 300 Electric (RWD) VLE 400 4Matic (AWD)

Advanced package and new customization options

To enhance the visual appeal of the entire range, Mercedes-Benz is introducing the new Advanced equipment package. It complements the three existing equipment levels (Base, Premium and Premium Plus), bringing specific aesthetic options:

  • 19-inch alloy wheels: Painted in gloss black with a diamond-cut finish.
  • Tinted rear windows (Privacy Glass): Provides sun protection and increased privacy for rear passengers.
  • Optimized exterior elements: Optional integration with AMG Line and AMG Line Plus.

Inside, the VLE can be configured with 5 to 8 seats, offering individual folding/rolling seats (Roll&Go) or electrically operated sliding benches via the app or the MBUX Superscreen system.

Equipment adjustments: Air suspension and optional AC charging

With this update, Mercedes-Benz is reconfiguring the standard equipment list to make the entry-level version more accessible:

  1. 11 kW AC charging system: It has been added to the list of optional equipment for basic versions (the 22 kW charger remaining available for higher trim levels).
  2. AIRMATIC air suspension: Offers adjustable ground clearance of up to 40 mm and adaptive damping. This becomes optional on lower trim levels, allowing customers to choose their desired ride comfort separately.
  3. Classic comfort suspension: A new passive suspension set exclusively for comfort will be introduced in the coming period.
  4. Rear-axle steering (up to 7°): Available as an option, it reduces the turning circle to just 10.9 meters, facilitating maneuvers in underground parking lots or tight urban spaces.
