Mercedes-AMG GT SUV 2027, estimated prices in Romania, specifications, 1,153 hp power and launch
For the first time in its 59-year history, the Mercedes-AMG performance division is developing a full-size SUV from scratch. The new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV is the second model built on the AMG.EA high-performance platform, combining the imposing presence of a luxury SUV with the dynamics and agility of a pure road-crushing car. A low driving position, a low center of gravity and a dynamic silhouette define the character of this revolutionary model, without compromising everyday utility.
A historic first for Affalterbach: Availability and prices
The new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV aims to redefine the standards of the segment through three engine versions adapted to the most demanding tastes: AMG GT 63 SUV, AMG GT 55 SUV and AMG GT 53 SUV.
- Commercial launch: The base model of the new range will be available to order from October 20, 2026.
- Starting price: The new AMG GT 53 SUV has a starting price of 113,050 euros.
- Range expansion: The top-of-the-range AMG GT 63 SUV and AMG GT 55 SUV versions will join the dealer network in spring 2027.
Top-notch engines and performance: Up to 1,153 horsepower with three electric motors
Regardless of the version chosen, the new SUV from Affalterbach delivers performance that is hard to match in its segment, relying on advanced electric propulsion concepts.
- Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SUV: Equipped with three innovative axial-flow engines, it develops an astonishing output of up to 860 kW (1,153 – 1,169 hp), complemented by the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system and torque vectoring on the rear axle.
- Mercedes-AMG GT 55 SUV: Delivers up to 600 kW (816 hp) via a similar three-motor architecture.
- Mercedes-AMG GT 53 SUV (Base Version): It uses two powerful synchronous motors – one on each axle – that generate a total of 400 kW (544 hp). The rear axle features an innovative two-speed transmission to optimize both acceleration in urban environments and efficiency at high speeds on the highway.
High-performance battery and cooling innovations inspired by Formula 1
The high-voltage battery was designed based on technologies developed in Grand Touring competitions, ensuring exceptional thermal stability and ranges of up to 700 kilometers (for the version with 22 modules and a usable capacity of 128 kWh; the basic version has 106 kWh).
- Cylindrical cell technology: Tall and narrow cells minimize the distance to the cell core, allowing for highly efficient heat dissipation.
- Direct oil cooling: An electrically non-conductive oil directly bathes each cylindrical cell, maintaining an optimal temperature and perfect uniformity under full load conditions.
- Ultra-fast charging: Thanks to the 800-volt architecture, the battery supports a DC charging power of up to 710 kW, being automatically compatible with 400-volt stations as well as five global charging standards (CCS2, GB/T, CHAdeMO, CCS1 and NACS).
Exterior design: Pure athleticism and active aerodynamics
The silhouette of the new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV instantly betrays its performance DNA through muscular proportions, a ribbed hood, flared wings and generously sized wheels.
- Distinctive light identity: The AMG-specific radiator grille with metal uprights (optionally illuminated), the optional central star and the signature star-shaped taillights combine with the six circular taillights in turbine design.
- AEROKINETICS Airpanel: Vertical slats in the front spoiler remain closed to reduce drag and open automatically only when cooling requirements increase.
- Active spoiler: The roof spoiler automatically adjusts from 150 km/h onwards to optimise either the aerodynamic coefficient or downforce in dynamic driving mode.
- MANUFAKTUR personalization: Customers can choose from over 60 exclusive exterior colors as well as AMG forged wheels decorated with colored accents in shades such as Angel Blue, Sunny Lime or Orange Flame.
Interior design: Driver-oriented cockpit and personalized luxury
Inside, the cabin translates the philosophy of an AMG GT cockpit into a spacious SUV format, offering a low, sporty driving position, deeply integrated into the car.
- Digital Control Architecture: The ergonomic center console integrates dedicated controls, and a 14.0-inch driver-facing multimedia screen combines with the 10.2-inch instrument cluster. A separate 14-inch screen is available for the front passenger.
- Comfort and space: The rear seat offers generous head and legroom, with the backrests being electrically foldable.
- SKY CONTROL panoramic roof: Can switch between transparent and opaque modes, offering spectacular AMG lighting effects at night.
- MANUFAKTUR details: Seat belts can be ordered in bold colors such as Fjord Blue, Green Hell or Orange Flame, providing a unique touch of personality.
Cutting-edge technologies and artificial intelligence
The new generation of MBUX based on the MB.OS operating system transforms the dashboard into an intelligent command center.
Integrated AI assistants: The interface incorporates artificial intelligence-based agents (ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini) capable of complex multi-stage dialogues.
Dedicated AMG menus:
- AMG PERFORMANCE MENU: View in real time the energy flow (Energy Flow), the state of aerodynamics (Aero Flow), operating temperatures and the physical forces exerted on the car (Dynamic).
- AMG SET-UP: Allows fine-tuning of steering response, aerodynamic settings and dynamic behavior.
- AMG TRACK PACE: Records over 80 data points ten times per second, providing intelligent track navigation and professional telemetry functions.
Predictive Performance Manager (PPM): Intelligently optimizes energy flow based on the topography of the selected circuit (such as the Nürburgring Nordschleife), managing thermal and electrical resources for optimal lap times.
Superior dynamics: AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL+ suspension and driving programs
The new SUV's road behavior is enhanced by state-of-the-art chassis technologies, designed to eliminate the compromise between long-distance comfort and agility on the track.
- AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL+: The three-stage adjustable air suspension with hydraulic damper linkage eliminates roll and pitch in real time, adjusting the ground clearance and ensuring outstanding lateral precision.
- Active All-Wheel Steering: Turns the rear wheels up to 6 degrees in the opposite direction to the front wheels at speeds below 80 km/h for maximum agility, or in the same direction at higher speeds for impeccable highway stability.
- Seven DYNAMIC SELECT driving programs: Includes Comfort, Sport, AMGFORCE Sport+, RACE, Slippery, Individual and Eco modes.
- AMGFORCE Sport+ acoustic experience: Authentically reproduces the sound of V8 or inline six-cylinder engines in real time (based on over 100 acoustic measurements taken with 16 microphones), even simulating the gear changes of a traditional transmission for total emotional involvement.
