The affordable SUV market is welcoming a new ambitious player. Chinese manufacturer Jaecoo announces the expansion of the Jaecoo 5 range by introducing the full-hybrid SHS-H variant. The model will be available in Romanian dealerships starting June 1, 2026, at a competitive starting price of 25,990 euros (VAT included).
The new version aims to combine fuel efficiency with the versatility needed for a family car oriented towards adventure and outdoor activities.
Under the hood: Super Hybrid System (SHS) technology
The central element of the new Jaecoo 5 SHS-H is the propulsion assembly developed based on Super Hybrid System (SHS) technology. It integrates:
- Gasoline engine: 1.5 liter Turbo, specially adapted for hybrid operation.
- Electric motor: High-efficiency unit that delivers instant torque.
Combined, the two units provide the compact SUV with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds. In addition to its agile character, another major asset is its total autonomy: with a single full tank, the Jaecoo 5 SHS-H can travel up to 980 kilometers, making it an extremely attractive option for long trips.
Prepared for rough terrain and difficult maneuvers
Although it is a modern city SUV, the Jaecoo 5 SHS-H is not shy about leaving the asphalt. The car is equipped with an independent suspension designed to effectively absorb uneven terrain and offers the ability to pass through water fords with a depth of up to 450 mm.
In terms of safety and driver assistance, the model adds a 540-degree panoramic camera system (which also includes the "transparent hood" function), offering complete visibility both in tight parking lots and on unpaved off-road roads.

Inside, Jaecoo proposes a unique approach in the industry, emphasizing the comfort of the entire family — including pets.
Interior premiere: The model's interior is TÜV Rheinland certified, using special materials that maintain clean air and prevent the accumulation of allergens or unpleasant odors, being optimized for transporting pets in safe and hygienic conditions.
In addition to this feature, the interior space offers:
- Panoramic glass roof, which enhances the feeling of space.
- Generous luggage compartment: Up to 1,214 liters of volume with the rear seats folded down.
- Ergonomics: No less than 35 intelligent storage spaces distributed throughout the cabin.
