Fiat unveils the new Grizzly SUV. How much will it cost in Romania?

Fiat Grizzly: The Italian manufacturer attacks the C-SUV segment with a new model inspired by the Grande Panda

The Stellantis Group continues its offensive on the European market, and the Fiat brand has revealed the first official image of its new compact SUV: the Fiat Grizzly. Positioned in the range above the new Grande Panda, the new model promises to become a smart and affordable alternative for families, directly attacking an extremely competitive area, where it will also duel with the future Dacia Bigster.

A futuristic design language borrowed from the Grande Panda

The new Fiat Grizzly takes on the retro-futuristic aesthetic elements recently introduced by the Turin-based manufacturer. The front is dominated by a glossy black panel in which the optical blocks are integrated. The LED headlights stand out with a unique light signature, made up of multiple thin "pixel"-type stripes, which give the car a technological and robust appearance.

The SUV's profile maintains a geometric line, with sharp shapes and well-defined visual details:

  • Floating ceiling: The A-pillar is completely painted black, creating a modern visual effect of continuity of the glazed surface.
  • Aerodynamic rims: The wheel design is optimized to reduce rolling resistance, giving it a futuristic look.
  • Compact dimensions: With a total length of under 4.5 meters, Grizzly promises urban agility, but also the best-in-class loading volume in the segment (best-in-class) according to the first official statements.

Two body styles: Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback

To respond to different lifestyles, Fiat is simultaneously launching two distinct body versions, developed on the same basis:

  1. Fiat Grizzly (classic SUV): A more upright and cubic variant, focused on maximizing interior space, headroom, and daily utility for families and long trips.
  2. Fiat Grizzly Fastback (SUV Coupe): A more dynamic and sophisticated interpretation. This ditches the roof bars in favor of a silhouette that dips towards the rear, features a contrasting black roof and LED taillights with a dedicated light signature. Despite its sporty appearance, the Fastback variant will offer excellent longitudinal load capacity.

A full range of engines: from petrol to electric

Underneath the bold bodywork is the Stellantis Group's famous Smart Car platform (also used by models such as the Citroën C3 Aircross or the new Opel Frontera). This modular architecture, specifically designed to keep prices affordable, allows for the implementation of a diverse range of powertrains:

  • Gasoline and Mild-Hybrid: Versions based on the 1.2-liter engine (most likely in 100 HP and 136 HP variants), capable of offering reduced consumption in urban environments.
  • Fully Electric (BEV): Zero-emission versions that will take over the group's battery technology, offering an estimated power of around 113 HP and ranges that will exceed 350-400 km.

Availability and estimated prices for the Romanian market

Fiat has officially confirmed that the Grizzly family will be introduced to European markets in the second half of this year. Most likely, the first units will be available for order in Romania towards the end of autumn. The model will be produced, according to industry sources, by the Stellantis plant in Morocco, an essential factor in maintaining competitive costs.

Although official prices have not yet been published, the positioning as a "democratic mobility" solution and the analysis of direct competition allow us to estimate the following price thresholds for the local market:

Powertrain Version Estimated Starting Price (VAT incl.)
Grizzly 1.2 Petrol / Mild-Hybrid ~€23,500 – €25,000
Grizzly Fastback (Mild-Hybrid) ~€25,500 – €27,000
Grizzly Fully Electric (BEV) ~€31,000 – €33,000

Note: On the Romanian market, electric versions will also be able to benefit from subsidies from the Rabla Plus government program, which could lower the real purchase price for the electric model to around the 26,000 - 28,000 euro threshold.

With the new Grizzly, Fiat returns strongly to the heart of the family segment, offering an attractive mix of personality-filled design, practical space solutions and competitive pricing.
