BMW marks Nürburgring centenary with special editions for 6 M models and 3 motorcycles
A century on the Nordschleife – The indissoluble bond between BMW and the Green Hell. Officially inaugurated on June 18, 1927, the legendary Nürburgring circuit is preparing to celebrate a century of existence in 2027. Considered by drivers and engineers to be the most demanding track in the world – nicknamed the “Green Hell” by the great Jackie Stewart –, the German circuit with its 20.8 kilometers and 73 corners has been the ultimate testing ground for the BMW M performance division for decades.
Although there is still time until the official centenary celebration, BMW has decided to steal the show. Under the motto "Born on the Racetrack. Made for the Streets", the Bavarians have officially presented the new special anniversary edition "100 Jahre Nürburgring". It is intended for an exclusive group of 6 BMW M high-performance automobiles and 3 motorcycles from the BMW Motorrad range.
Exclusive exterior design – Nürburgring Green and Nordschleife graphics
The main identity of this special edition is the body color Nürburgring Green, a historic green developed exclusively to pay homage to the forests surrounding the old German race track. The paintwork is complemented by numerous accent elements in high-gloss black. For customers who prefer a more discreet presence, BMW offers the metallic color Sapphire Black as an alternative. In the latter case, the outline of the double front kidney grille is highlighted by contrasting green accents.
The exterior appearance includes a series of specific graphics and symbols:
- Anniversary logos and designs: The silhouette of the legendary Nordschleife track, accompanied by the official inscriptions "100 Years" and "Nürburgring since 1927", is applied to the body elements (doors, C-pillars or trunk lid, depending on the model).
- Roof with racing stripes: Models equipped with a carbon fiber roof (M Carbon Roof) or steel roof (in the case of the M5 Touring) receive characteristic longitudinal stripes with the M logo in black.
- Wheels with green details: The M3, M4 and M5 models come equipped with light-alloy wheels (such as Styling 826 M or 951 M) that integrate details painted in Nürburgring green.
Motorsport-inspired interior and M Ignite technological innovation
Inside, the special edition captures the atmosphere of a racing car cockpit. The cabin is predominantly black, highlighted by contrasting green and white stitching on the upholstery, dashboard and door panels.
Specific interior elements include:
- M Carbon Bucket Seats: Offered as standard, the hollowed-out carbon fiber seats have headrests embroidered with the silhouette of the Nürburgring circuit (green embroidery for 6-cylinder models and black for the M5).
- M steering wheel with racing markings: Models equipped with the 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine (M2, M3 Sedan, M3 Touring, M4 Coupé) receive an M steering wheel covered in Alcantara. It features green and white stitching and a marking in the center at 12 o'clock, identical to that of the racing cars. M5 models benefit from an M leather steering wheel with the same anniversary stitching.
Innovation under the hood: BMW M Ignite technology
In addition to the aesthetic package, the models with the inline 6-cylinder engine (S58) also bring a major technical upgrade: the patented BMW M Ignite ignition system (pre-chamber ignition). Taken directly from motorsport, this technology optimizes combustion at high loads, increases efficiency on the track, reduces fuel consumption and prepares the engines for the upcoming Euro 7 regulations, without sacrificing any horsepower.
Exclusivity on two wheels – the BMW Motorrad M Trio
The BMW Motorrad motorcycle division is actively participating in this celebration by launching the 100 Jahre Nürburgring edition for three of its most radical models: the M 1000 RR, M 1000 R and M 1000 XR.
Unlike automobiles, the three motorcycles are produced in ultra-limited series of only 100 units worldwide for each model, instantly transforming them into rare collector's items.
Specific features for the Motorrad range include:
- Fuel tank painted in Nürburgring Green, decorated with the silhouette of the Nordschleife circuit.
- Carbon wheels with graphics and accents in anniversary green.
- Alcantara-covered sports saddle with the number "100" generously embroidered.
- Black-finished swingarm and rear frame, M Track competition package offered as standard, dedicated garage mat and rear wheel mounting bracket.
Availability and estimated prices for the Romanian market
BMW has confirmed the official launch calendar on European markets, including Romania, with orders to open gradually.
Order calendar:
- September 2026: Official orders open for the BMW M3 Sedan, BMW M3 Touring, BMW M4 Coupé, BMW M5 Sedan and BMW M5 Touring.
- October 19, 2026: Order taking begins for the three BMW Motorrad motorcycles (M 1000 RR, M 1000 R, M 1000 XR).
- January 2027: Orders open for the most compact member of the family, the BMW M2 100 Jahre Nürburgring.
Price estimates for the Romanian market (approximate prices with VAT included):
The German manufacturer has not yet published the official price list for each country. However, given that the edition includes top-of-the-line equipment offered as standard (M Carbon roof, M Carbon bucket seats, special graphics packages, exclusive paint and M Ignite technology), we can expect an exclusivity surcharge applied on top of the base prices of the series models.
- BMW M2 100 Jahre Nürburgring. Estimated price: ~90,000 – 98,000 EUR (compared to a standard M2 starting at approx. 78,000 – 80,000 EUR).
- BMW M3 Sedan & M3 Touring 100 Jahre Nürburgring. Estimated price: ~118,000 – 132,000 EUR (depending on body style and xDrive system).
- BMW M4 Coupé 100 Jahre Nürburgring. Estimated price: ~122,000 – 135,000 EUR.
- BMW M5 Sedan & M5 Touring 100 Jahre Nürburgring. Estimated price: ~152,000 – 168,000 EUR.
- BMW Motorrad range (M 1000 RR / M 1000 R / M 1000 XR). Due to the strict limitation of only 100 units worldwide, prices will reflect the collector's item status. We expect prices to be between EUR 33,000 – 38,000 for the M 1000 R / XR and over EUR 48,000 – 52,000 for the M 1000 RR track cruiser.
The 100 Jahre Nürburgring anniversary edition represents not only a visual celebration of one of the most famous tracks in the world, but also a reconfirmation of BMW M's commitment to bringing pure technology from the track to the public road.
