Major news in the BMW range - Black Package, more power for the X3 M50 xDrive and new technologies this fall


BMW updates its portfolio with new versions for the X3, 7 Series and X5, along with the Black Package aesthetic package

The Bavarian manufacturer has announced a series of important updates to its model portfolio, available from this autumn. The changes range from exclusive aesthetic packages and improvements to standard equipment, to the introduction of new, more powerful engine versions and the expansion of digital capabilities through the new operating system.


Black Package for M Performance models

For the M Performance versions of the 2 Series Coupé, 4 Series Coupé and 4 Series Convertible, BMW is introducing the new Black Package. Available exclusively in combination with the M Sport Package Pro, it emphasizes an aggressive design and elements made of carbon fiber.

Carbon accents are present both on the exterior and in the cabin, where the leather-wrapped steering wheel receives dedicated inserts made of this lightweight material. The list of new features brought by the package includes:

  •     Black finished interior sills;
  •     BMW M emblems and logo painted in high-gloss black at the rear;
  •     19-inch M alloy wheels, finished entirely in black.


Engine range expansion: X3 M50 xDrive gets 443 hp

The BMW model portfolio is expanding with new powertrain versions across multiple segments, covering petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and 100% electric options:

  • BMW X3 M50 xDrive: The top-of-the-range mid-size SUV benefits from a significant performance boost. The engine now develops 443 hp, an increase of 45 hp over the previous version.
  • BMW 7 Series: The Bavarian sedan's range is completed with the new 740d xDrive (diesel mild-hybrid), 750e xDrive and M760e xDrive options (both plug-in hybrids).
  • BMW X5: The premium SUV portfolio is enriched with the plug-in hybrid variants X5 50e xDrive and X5 M60e xDrive, along with the fully electric version iX5 60 xDrive.
  • BMW 2 Series Active Tourer: The compact MPV receives two new petrol versions: 218i and 220i.

More generous standard equipment and BMW Individual shades

BMW is revising standard specifications and customization options for several vehicles in its portfolio.

For the BMW 218d Active Tourer and BMW 225e xDrive Active Tourer, the 16-inch wheels previously offered as standard are replaced by new 17-inch alloy wheels.

In the case of the 7 Series, the BMW Individual personalization program adds 8 new two-tone shades. At the same time, the luxury sedan receives a digital rearview mirror and an advanced preheating system in the options list.


Detail improvements for the BMW X3 and iX3

In addition to the power increase on the M50 xDrive variant, the X3 range receives new features in the cabin:

  •     The storage compartment in the center console integrates an ambient lighting system;
  •     The torpedo receives an illuminated handle and a newly designed opener;
  •     The instrument panel benefits from revised decorative stitching;
  •     A stainless steel loading sill protector is added to the trunk.

The electric version of the BMW iX3 also receives a substantial package of updates:

  1.     Introducing the Mineral White exterior color;
  2.     Relocation of seat adjustment controls directly to the door panels;
  3.     Wireless smartphone charging surface included as standard;
  4.     Dedicated adapter for the Travel & Comfort system integrated in the front seats;
  5.     Optional M Sport calipers with revised geometry;
  6.     Later availability of roof bars finished in gloss black.


Digital Innovations: Amazon Prime Video and the Drive Challenge Feature

On-board technology is undergoing an update process with the introduction of new applications and assistance functions on models equipped with the BMW Operating System 9 and BMW Operating System X operating systems.

  • Amazon Prime Video: The streaming service becomes accessible directly on the center display of cars equipped with BMW OS 9 and BMW OS X (usable when the vehicle is stationary).
  • Drive Challenge: A new feature integrated into BMW OS X, designed to analyze and provide real-time feedback to the driver on how to apply acceleration, braking and steering.
  • BMW Maps 3D: The navigation system receives a three-dimensional display mode with a single-area view for the BMW OS X interface.


New M Performance wheels for the BMW M5 Sedan and M5 Touring

For the most powerful models in the mid-range, the BMW M5 Sedan and BMW M5 Touring, the Munich-based manufacturer is offering a new line of M Performance alloy wheels, with a combined size of 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear. They can be ordered in Jet Black or Gold Bronze.
