Chery Group brings the Lepas brand to Romania: First showroom inaugurated in Sibiu
The Romanian car market is expanding its portfolio of Asian brands with the official launch of the Lepas brand. Part of the Chinese giant Chery Group, the new brand is brought locally by the official importer MATEROM Group. The debut is marked by the inauguration of the first showroom in the country in Sibiu and the launch of the first model in the range, a plug-in hybrid SUV.
National expansion: From Sibiu to a network of 24 showrooms
The brand's development plan relies on the rapid construction of a distribution network in major urban centers. Currently, Lepas already benefits from eight authorized dealers strategically distributed in Bucharest, Bac?u, Bra?ov, Cluj-Napoca, Ia?i, Pite?ti, Sibiu and Timi?oara.
The brand's immediate objective is to reach 12 dealers in the first year of activity on the domestic market. In the medium term, the network is to expand to 24 showrooms by the end of 2027, thus ensuring coverage of approximately 80% of Romania's key cities.
Lepas L8: Combined range of over 1,000 km and low mixed consumption
The first model launched on the Romanian market is the Lepas L8, an SUV equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain (PHEV). The technical system consists of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor, optimized for energy efficiency over long distances.
The declared consumption and autonomy performances for the new model:
- Combined range: Up to 1,040 km.
- Combined consumption (with charged battery): 2.0 liters / 100 km.
- Consumption with discharged battery: 6.0 liters / 100 km.
The new Lepas L8 is available in two trim levels, Essence and Elegance. The model's list price starts at 45,500 euros (VAT included). During the launch phase, the importer is applying a commercial discount of 3,000 euros, lowering the purchase price to 42,500 euros.
Model Strategy: What's Next in the Lepas Range
The brand's offensive on the local market will continue in the coming period by diversifying the offer of electrified vehicles. The next model scheduled for launch is the Lepas L6, which will be available in both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and fully electric (BEV) versions. Its official presentation in national premiere will take place at the Bucharest Auto Show.
The range will be completed later by the Lepas L4 model, also offered in PHEV and BEV variants. Subsequently, the brand's portfolio will be enriched with two more new models, the launch of which is estimated for the third quarter of 2027.
